No parent should navigate the journey alone. We stand beside single parents across Minnesota — with a special focus on the Twin Cities — providing resources, community, and hope.
Single parents across Minnesota face unique challenges — balancing work, childcare, finances, and emotional wellbeing without a partner. One City exists to close that gap.
Through direct programs, community connections, and advocacy, we ensure that single parents statewide — with a special focus on the Twin Cities — have the tools, resources, and community they need to thrive.
Make a Difference Today"One City showed up for me and my kids when I didn't know where to turn. They didn't just give us gifts — they gave us community."
Dear Single Parent,
If you are reading this letter, I want you to know there is hope.
I was eighteen years old and pregnant with my first child. I had no help. Nowhere to go. As a teenager and young adult I was often struggling with addiction — homeless, sleeping on benches or moving from couch to couch. Eighteen months later, I was pregnant with my second child.
The systems designed to help someone like me were difficult to navigate. Income thresholds were hard to understand. Childcare was nearly impossible to find. Housing — where should I even start? There were no easy answers. Just a choice. A decision. What type of life was I going to create for my boys?
For 18 years, I was a single mom of three boys. It was because of them that I stayed up late studying, scraping together every dollar to put myself through school, and navigating systems to find stable housing. The days were long and challenging — but I made it because of them.
Today, I am a mother, a wife, a Real Estate Agent, Chief People Manager at Canopy Roots, and the Executive Director of One City.
I pray that a glimpse into my story gives you the hope to keep moving toward your dreams. I believe in you. One City is here to support you every step of the way. When the days feel hard, please remember — you have a community cheering for you and an organization here to help.
Don't stop believing,
Krystal Queen-Sullivan
